Half-length portrait of Liszt’s seated figure turned left, looking left. He is wearing a bow-tie and leans on his right elbow. Signed at the bottom, on the left: "Kriehuber 838", on the right: "Gedr[uckt] bei Joh[ann] Höfelich." At the bottom in the middle the facsimile of Liszts signature, below it 6 lines from Saphir with the title "An Liszts Bild": "Zum Spielen ähnlich! Ausdruck, Geist und Haltung! / Allein die Hand? die Hand voll Wunderwaltung. / Ich frage wo die Hand, die Zaubervolle ist? / Die schafft Natur ihm ähnlich nicht mehr wieder, / Darum legt auch die Kunst den Griffel nieder / Und schweigt von ihr, das ist - » List gegen Liszt!« _ / M. G. Saphir"
