The bishop, Scitovszky, is sitting, turning a little to the left and looking straight. He has a prayer-book In his left hand. Down on the left: "Barabás / 845". Down on the right: "Ny. Walzel Pesten". Printed under the picture: "NAGY-KÉRI SCITOVSZKY JÁNOS / pécsi Püspök, cs. k. valóságos benső titkos Tanátsnok, a Szép Művészetek, Bölcsészet, / és Hittudományok Tanára, a kir. magy: természettudományi társulat, és m. Orvo- / sok s természetvizsgálók VI-ik nagy gyűlésének Elnöke." [... the bishop of Pécs, a consultant, a teacher, the president of the league of the doctors, etc.] Under it, the fac-simile of the bishops original signature: "Scitovszky János Pécsi Püspök".
