The Cathedral is dominating the background of the picture on the left side, next to it the city. In the foreground, there is a lake, on the right a hill with a castle on its top. At the bottom there is a cross with a praying woman. At the shore of the lake: a rider and a child. Caption under the picture, in the middle: "MAYLAND" [completed by handwriting:] (Milano). Down on the left: Aus d. Kunstanst. d. Bibliogr. Inst. in Hildbgh." Handwritten date in the left bottom corner: 1856.
